Abstract
The manufacturing industry is one of the key critical domain for China to achieve its "dual carbon" goals, and the effectiveness of carbon emission reduction by manufacturing enterprises directly impacts the progress towards these goals. While scholars have conducted systematic research on the driving factors of carbon emission reduction in enterprises from multiple perspectives, under the current time-sensitive and challenging circumstances of achieving the "dual carbon" targets, it is imperative to explore new drivers and pathways for enterprise carbon emission reduction to more effectively accelerate and enhance the process. Simultaneously, the rapid evolution of global technological revolution and industrial transformation has made intelligent manufacturing a key focus for China's modernization of its industrial sector and its development into a manufacturing powerhouse. Against this backdrop, it is of great significance to study whether intelligent manufacturing can empower manufacturing enterprises to reduce carbon emissions. Through theoretical analysis, we propose the hypothesis that intelligent manufacturing can reduce the carbon emission intensity of enterprises. Empirical research confirms this hypothesis.
